Flanking activities

Pursuant to the General Transport Plan, Law 240/90 and following modifications and enforcing provisions (in particular, with reference to the decision of the Ministerial Committee on Economic Planning dated 7th April 1993 – Official Journal n. 111 dated 14th May 1993), the freight village area can host all the activities and services aimed at exchanging goods among different transport modalities. Warehouses, deposits, offices and the handling, marketing and distribution of goods are permitted.

Production activities are permitted but limited to additional and conclusive processes in complex production cycles leading to the distribution stage and – in so far as transport is concerned - mainly using the intermodal structures of the freight village.

They include:

  • Assembling food processing machines and equipment;
  • Canning, bottling, packaging, labelling consumer products;
  • Producing packaging material;
  • Printing newspapers and periodicals.
They exclude all activities involving the implementation of full, preliminary or complex production cycles and any other production activity not included in those reported above and listed among the unhealthy industries reported in the annex to the Ministerial Decree dated 5th September 1994.
